Emotional Body Stress - Get
Some Relief!
by Michele Craner, Licensed Massage Therapist
There are many obvious ways you can stress your body with activity overload, poor nutrition, etc…
Are you MINDFUL of the way your Being is stressed Emotionally?
You are made of the intelligence of nature. Your personal situation in life is likely similar with those around you and as your life changes so does your state of emotion. Your mind dictates to your body an instant reaction to all of life's changes and as they are perceived by the mind they register in the emotional body and manifest in a physical reaction. For instance, your body may react with laughter to your thoughts of bliss and joy and tears to those of despair and sorrow. The thought process is performed so quickly that it is almost undetectable. It is here in the thought that if you focus your attention change can occur and dis-ease of the body is altered.
Relief of emotional stress typically takes a little detective work on your part in order to figure out the root of its cause and the thought process to activate its change. For this reason I highly recommend some of my favorite activities when dealing with emotional stress. They are simple and proven effective:
Daydream
Yes, daydream! Find a few minutes each day to visualize your life differently. It may be about your career or love life. No matter what the subject, look at your situation and dream it at the next level. Feel good about yourself and remember to feel it all the way to your cells.
Exercise
Move Around! Strength training for strong bones and muscles and aerobics for your Organs & Pipes is recommended by most health care professionals. Your options are unlimited. A good rule of thumb is if it makes you feel good and puts a smile in your heart then do it. It's that simple. When you energize your body with exercise it doesn't take long for your emotional state to do the same.
Meditation
Did you know that your body can be in an active state when you engage in meditation? Practiced movement such as Martial Arts, Yoga, Drumming, and Chanting just to name a few are forms of active meditation. The memorization process of these practiced movements puts your body on auto pilot and through this process allows your mind to empty and release the "monkey mind" thoughts of daily life. You can be free of thoughts and open to the creation of new ideas and get in touch with your True Self. The Great Masters of the world throughout the ages have taught that meditation is the number one practice done daily for emotional health, self guidance and overall Well Being.
Pray
Connect with your true self and all of Creation through prayer.
Rest
Rest your mind and your body will follow. No matter how active your lifestyle, give yourself permission to rest. With proper rest you can achieve a higher state of energy, maintain strength and rejuvenate your being.
Body Therapy
Massage therapy, accupressure, and various other forms of therapy stimulate your body systems to release tension. In a relaxed state your whole self can drop its emotional baggage as you take a vacation in a zen-like style.
Get Outside
Enjoy Nature and its beauty. Put yourself out there and feel your connection to your surroundings.
I encourage you to try any of these activities and ready yourself for a new way of thinking and experiencing living life.
