I leaned back in my chair, closed my eyes and soaked up the warmth of the winter sun. For an East Coast girl, experiencing 65° in mid-February may as well be 85°. I took a moment for gratitude and reflection as fascinating conversations about shifting consciousness and deep laughter amongst new found friends flowed around me from every angle. I opened my eyes and took in the view… breathtaking… beautiful, green rolling hills with deer spotting the hillside, much like the 1st time I sat on this same patio at the beautiful IONS campus, located in Petaluma, California, over 3 years ago. The hills looked the same, but the circumstances this time around are a whole different ballgame.
It had been inspired action based on divine guidance. I had heard that IONS (an acronym for the Institute of Noetic Sciences) had a campus in Petaluma, which was only a short 1 hour drive from my home in Vacaville, California at the time. As soon as I visited their website and saw that they had a retreat center on hundreds of acres, I knew that I had to go visit. I was feeling complete in my current work environment as the manager of a farm sanctuary and was just starting my training to be a Certified Empowerment Coach. I had always dreamed of working at a retreat center. It also didn’t hurt that it was located in the North Bay, which felt like home to me every time I visited.
Looking back, I remember feeling excitement paralleled with the fear of being disappointed as I drove to Petaluma. I had searched the website hoping for a job opening, but none were posted. I figured going for a tour of the place was the next best option. I don’t remember all the details of the tour, but I do remember that the campus was breathtaking. I also remember walking out on the back porch before the tour and sitting in the sun to have my lunch. I was all alone. The fountain created the most soothing sound and everything looked so pristine and inviting. I remember closing my eyes and visualizing myself sitting around one of the tables with colleagues laughing and sharing inspiring conversation. I also clearly remember telling the universe “I want to work at an organization just like this, where I can focus on shifting the consciousness of the world full time in a breathtaking environment.”
How could I have known the profound impact that one seed of clear intention I planted in the universal soil that day would have on the trajectory of my life. http://expandingjoycoaching.com/blog/
