When I lived in Stockton, CA, a city of 275,000, I worked with interfaith, holistic, and peace organizations to have the Mayor and City Council pass a resolution supporting the work of these organizations for harmony, healing and peace. This morning I awoke at 4 a.m. with this text streaming from my thoughts. It is for presenting to local Mayors and City Councils in regard to current conditions.
"Whereas, being American stands for freedom—economic freedom and human rights freedom,
"Whereas, being American stands for purity—of thought and expectation,
"Whereas, being American stands for reflection—taking the time to think about who we are in this world and what we stand for,
"Whereas, this world is too precious for us to let corporate greed (which is a reflection of individual greed) destroy. If we do not stand up for a new way of being and living in this world, we are consenting to its destruction through our unconscious exploitation of the earth and our fellow man.
"Whereas, being American stands for truth—in revealing what lies beneath our actions. We can determine our future clearly only when we see the truth of what we, as a society, are doing to others through our focused striving for money and power. Greed makes us do things which are unconstitutional—treating others unequally and unfairly.
"Whereas, being American, we look where we are going as a nation and decide that we must stand up for a new consciousness, the awareness that we can choose again who we are and where we are headed. The shadows of corporate greed are cold. We desire to walk in the warmth of the light—of truth, justice, and harmony for all.
"Therefore, the Mayor and City Council of [City], [County], [State], on this day of [Date], hereby declare our solidarity with the values of our nation’s Occupyers, the 99%."
I plan to ask the Mayor and City Council of Chesapeake City, Cecil County, Maryland, to approve of this resolution. If you resonate with this idea, please take these words to your Mayor and City Council.
We each choose that light which motivates us to stand and walk!

Comment by Zing Nafzinger on November 29, 2011 at 4:14pm The Mayor's secretary has handed the resolution application to the Mayor for his decision about whether to pass it on to the Town Council.
If you want to see my application letter so you can write one to your local Mayor and Council, let me know and I will email it to you.
